About the first fired porcelain “Arita-yaki” in Japan
Because of the beauty of its translucent white porcelain and its durability, Arita-yaki has long been loved by people in Japan and around the world.
It is said that the history of Arita-yaki dates back to about 400 years ago, when a potter from the neighboring country of Korea, Lee Sang-pyong, visited the present-day town of Arita in Saga Prefecture and discovered pottery stones at Mount Izumi in Arita. Later, to prevent the leakage of color painting techniques, a representative office was established and production was controlled by the city of Arita. Even today, Arita City is dotted with many kilns, where potters continue to produce Arita-yaki.
Minoru Kubota Pottery Ltd. was established by Minoru Kubota in 1965.
Although we do not have a long history as a kiln in the Arita area, we have learned the ceramic industry from the ground up and have succeeded in developing products that utilize the functions of ceramic materials, and have supplied products to major manufacturers in the ceramic field.
We are now taking on the challenge of new fields, such as manufacturing Arita-yakii on an OEM basis and collaborating with designers to create modern designs, and are promoting Arita-yaki to the world.
